Jorge Mañá Award winner, Kamila Segien, is in Singapore!

 

Aquinas Law Alliance LLP welcomed Kamila Segien from ebl miller rosenfalck in London, a member of Warwick Legal Network, to their office as part of her secondment.

She is one of this year's recipients of the Jorge Mañá Award which is given to promising young lawyers. Recipients can choose to be attached to any WLN and ASEAN LEGAL ALLIANCE firm and we are delighted that she has chosen Aquinas Law Alliance LLP. Kamila practices in property law and speaks Polish, English, Chinese and French.

Why did you choose to do your secondment at Aquinas Law Alliance LLP?

I chose Aquinas Law Alliance LLP in Singapore because of my background in the Oriental Studies and great interest in the South-East Asia. Aquinas Law also assist clients not only in Singapore, but also in India, ASEAN and China. The fact that the firm has a large Chinese client base was very attractive to me.

During my time with Aquinas I had a chance not only to practice my Mandarin language skills whilst exchanging experiences with the fellow Singaporean and Chinese lawyers, but also to observe the client’s meeting conducted in Mandarin concerning the proposed family office structure for a Chinese client which I found very interesting.

Aquinas Law Alliance LLP provided me with an invaluable experience which I am certain has benefitted my professional development and, as a result, will benefit my clients.

What is your greatest takeaway from the last 2 weeks?

I would say it is the people. The team at Aquinas Law Alliance LLP is fantastic. They are not only great lawyers but also very warm, welcoming and fun people who showed me a piece of Singapore seen through the eyes of a Singaporean lawyer.
