Jorge Mañá Award 2019

 

After careful consideration of applications by the WLN Board, we are pleased to announce that the winner of the Jorge Mañá Award 2019 is Chiara Monica of Themis Studio Legale in Reggio, Emilia, Italy.

The winner's bursary will support Chiara in spending time with fellow WLN member firm Corrieri Cilia in Malta.

The WLN Board members all send Chiara our warm congratulations.  And our thanks also to all those who applied or enquired about this project; including those firms that offered to send or host candidates.  

Background: the Jorge Mañá Young Lawyers Award is an annual grant made by WLN to a lawyer under the age of 35 who is employed by a WLN member firm.  Jorge Mañá Argüelles was a valued colleague, friend and partner in WLN, who died tragically after a skiing accident in spring 2009 at the age of 41. The WLN Board promotes the Award in memory of Jorge and as a symbol for the good relationships in the network which lie at the heart of satisfying and prosperous business. The financial award award should contribute towards the winner's travel and accommodation expenses.

WLN wants to encourage all young or recently qualified WLN lawyers' activities inside WLN. If you or other young lawyers in your firms have ideas for such activities please do tell us and we will explore them with you.
