Dear WLN Liaison Partners
Dear WLN Friends
We are delighted to invite you & your colleagues to the WLN Autumn 2018 conference in Raleigh, (North Carolina, USA) from 20-22 September 2018, hosted by Morningstar Law Group (‘MLG’).
Please see full conference draft programme (version 21 Aug 2018, still subject to minor changes) under the button below (you must be logged in to Member Area to view this).
Thu 20 September - daytime: In addition to the traditional conference format there will be a WLN/MLG client event on the 1st morning, meaning Thursday 20 September 2018. This will take place in the NC Museum of Art. This Museum is a Top 10 North Carolina attraction and is a very wonderful setting. Whilst much preparatory planning is already done, we are still developing a program that will include a brunch throughout the morning and excellent networking possibilities. We also have arranged an optional guided tour in the art gallery of the museum, to extend the stay there if you wish.
Thu 20 September - evening (starting late afternoon): This will be reserved for the traditional WLN host firm reception at MLG’s Raleigh office. The Morningstar Law Group is delighted to show us around their office while providing drinks, followed by a dinner in Raleigh at the Bridge Club, owned by award winning chef Ashley Christensen.
Friday 21 September - this will be a full business day in the conference facilities of the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, just a stone’s throw from the MLG office. We are hoping that before dinner we can partake of some quality local craft beer, including a little touring of Raleigh. Speaking of dinner, we hope you are ready for some great NC-style barbecue since reservations have been made at the Pit for Friday night!
Saturday 22 September - The current plans are to either have a short or no Saturday morning session, due to the Thursday client event (above) and an expanded social programme. The social programme will be extensive; as there are three major universities in the area (Duke, University of North Carolina & North Carolina State University). We hope to include a visit to a luxury suite at a college American football game for those of you that would like to experience this American pastime.
And if you wonder what the city of Raleigh and the beautiful state of North Carolina look like, please take a look at this great video which we have prepared for you!
Top tips:
- Make sure you plan for your arrival at latest on Wednesday 19 September (or earlier) - this will enable you to attend the Thursday programme and stay until Sunday, or perhaps longer and spend tourist time at the beach or in the mountains!
- Please book your flights early.
- Please book your hotel accommodation through this link at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel as soon as possible, or copy and paste the link in your browser: https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/events/start.action?id=1804106814&key=162435B
• Note: we have agreed to a very good room rate with the hotel, but this rate is only available until 3 July 2018 or until WLN’s allocated number of rooms have been filled, if sooner. So: first come, first served! - Please register with us using the WLN online booking form, which is now available in the WLN website, within the Members’ Area (you'll have to log in)! If you're already logged in, see the regisration button above to the right of this page. https://www.warwicklegal.com/conference/151/wln-autumn-conference-20-22-september-2018-in-raleigh-nc
Costs of conference - In addition to your hotel and travel (which you are responsible for), WLN will charge a conference fee:
- The Main Delegate fee will not exceed €475,- per delegate (including dinners on Thursday and Friday night – but excludes your travel & hotel).
- The fees for Saturday’s social activities and dinner will be confirmed shortly, as plans are finalized.
We look forward to seeing you and/or your colleagues in Raleigh!
- Should you be unable to attend for any reason, please let us know. This will save those awkward reminders.
- Any questions or problems with the booking link, please let us (John van Loo / Stuart Miller) know.
VISA?
- Those of you that need an ENTRY VISA, please make sure you please take care of that in good time, to avoid disappointment (it has been known to happen!).
- Those of you that don’t need a visa, will probably still need to fill in an ESTA form before your departure to the US. This can also take a few days.
We look forward welcoming you in North Carolina!
